State Sales Tax Exemption Certificate submitted to Active Network must be approved by Tax Department before orders are processed. The certificate must follow the following guidelines
  • IRS Federal Income Tax Exemption, Purchased Order, Business License Certificate, IRS Tax ID Registration are not valid document for Sales Tax Exemption
  • Company name listed in Sales TEC should be same name as listed in account or contract
    • Note: DBA (Doing Business As) meaning business operates under a different name from legal name
  • Client will need to include a signed letter on letterhead explaining DBA
  • School district will need to provide copy of school listing or documentation explaining affiliation
  • Nonprofit such as YMCA & YWCA, church, and sports team will need to provide branch listings or documentation explaining  affiliation
  • Do Not Accept multi-state exemption certificates unless it is for resale
